The Empty City Nobody was left. Nobody.
The streets of town were empty, the homes were empty. The shops, the buildings, the parks. All were empty. The echoed laughter of children on the playground escaped every so often from the creaking chains of the swings in the gentle autumn breeze.  The leaves fell from the trees one by one, floating down to Earth, dying peacefully as their wrinkled bodies made contact with the slowly freezing ground.
As I walked down the roads, lined with empty parked cars, the silence began to eat away at me. The sound of my shoes against the cold concrete provided the only escape from the dreadful, dreadful silence. My footste
